Cleanups and Plantings THROUGHOUT SCRANTON

Scranton Tomorrow launched City Pride, a week of clean-ups and plantings throughout the City of Scranton, in the mid-1990s, to spruce up streets, sidewalks, parks, and landscapes after a long winter in northeastern Pennsylvania. With support from community volunteers, City officials and members of the business community, the project grew to become an annual spring tradition. Most recently, the project focused on the Downtown Scranton Business District with business and property owners participating in clean-ups and plantings on their blocks. In 2020, activities were suspended due to COVID-19, but we’re pleased to announce Scranton City Pride has returned in 2021, bigger and better than ever, thanks to a new partnership between Scranton Tomorrow and NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania, and support from the City of Scranton. In conjunction with National NeighborWorks Week, clean-ups and plantings will be held in neighborhoods, parks and business districts throughout Scranton from June 5 -12.

There are so many ways to participate in Scranton City Pride, and we encourage people of all ages to join in the effort to keep our City beautiful. Organizations, businesses, and individuals are welcome to register.

• Organizations: Round up your team and choose a project in a park or neighborhood that is important to you!

• Businesses: Register your business and volunteer to help maintain your block, or spearhead a clean-up on your block.

• Individuals: Sign up to organize a clean-up in your neighborhood for your favorite park, or let us know what neighborhood you would like to work in, and we’ll pair you with a great team! At-home clean-ups count, too.
